The Journey – Dan Winters

Ministries – Nepal

Nepal a country of 28,487,000 people 98% unreached by the gospel.

In the year of 2012 Lako Lama posted a message “Pray for Nepal”.

Although he was not a Facebook friend at that time, I did pray for Nepal and  then began to chat with him.

Friday October 2013 Teri arrived in Kathmandu for her first time and was met by Lako and a few of his friends. During Teri’s stay, we chatted online while she established the Jesus Saves Network Bible School in Nepal. Lako Loma became our director in Nepal and Teri became our International director.

Lako was a  born into a Buddhist family in Tawal Village, Dhading, Nepal.  He was being trained to be a Buddhist Monk and at the age of 15 the spirit of Jesus Christ begin to deal with him.  You can read his personal story at http://www.nepaljsn.org/meet-the-pastor/

Viewing the many pictures on the website will reveal to you some of our experiences during recent years.

On April 1, 2017 Lako posted on Facebook

Today is the birthday of JESUS SAVES NETWORK MINISTRY, NEPAL. Four years ago today, Jesus Saves Network ministry, Nepal was birthed through Rev. Dan & Mary Winters. Thank you so much Rev. “The New Church Building in Chimchok village that JSN helped.”  Electricity is not available in this area so this building is equipped with solar power. Internet service make it possible for JSN Bible School to teach the natives about Jesus Christ.  The Jesus Film and other videos are shown regularly and the Bible in the Nepal language is made available.

There are reportedly 28,487,000 unreached people currently living in the 75 districts (states) in Nepal.  Divided into 3,157 VDC’s (counties); each VDC is further divided into several wards (depending on the population of the district; the average is nine (9) wards for a total of approximately 28,000 neighborhoods. You can partner with me to proclaim the gospel to unreached villages in Nepal; here is how:

JSN Plan for Evangelizing Nepal
  1. Select a village and pray for the unsaved people. Encourage your friends to also pray for them.
  2. Evangelize with printed brochures and showing the Jesus Film, all in the local languages where possible.
  3. Tutor a “person of peace” in how to operate and listen to solar powered JSN audio Bible. Audio Bible is loaded with local worship singing, new testament and other Bible teaching in the Native language.
  4. Disciple the converts and teach them in a local Bible school.
  5. Equip the school and the students with the tools and equipment to evangelize and train others. Including travel to one of the other approximately 28,000 neighborhoods.
  6. Plant a (house) church in the village.
  7. Build a building as a “house of worship” and ministry center.

Many people do not have electric lights although they may have a cell phone.   The torch will also recharge most cell phones

MINISTRY CENTER IN POKHARA, NEPAL
Nepal is a small poor third world county with more than 29 million people who are 98% non-Christian. During the month of April 2013 Jesus Saves Network Ministry Center in Nepal competed the construction of offices as a portion of the new church in Pokhara.
Missionary Ministry teams have been organized and Lako Lama has been appointed as the co-coordinator of this missions work.
This is our first news letter and will provide some history of Christianity in the North Central portion of Nepal which includes the District of Dhading.
Thank God we can report that 48 people have prayed the salvation prayer and 35 have enrolled in the Discipleship training. The Jesus Film has been shown in 4 of the unreached villages.
Details of the Jesus Saves Network Ministry in Nepal are provided below:

Dhading-District
Introduction:
Dhading shares its border with Kathmandu, Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts in the East, Gorkha in the West, Rasuwa and Tibet in the North and Makwanpur and Chitwan in the South. The district is administratively divided into 50 VDC (Village Development Committee) in total. Each VDC is divided into 9 wards. Each ward comprised of 1 to 4 clusters or hamlets depending upon the size of the population. It is also one of the most backward districts which stands in 41st rank in Human Development Index (HDI) among 75 districts of Nepal.
The people of the district are primarily Tamang and Gurung in the north and Bhramin , Chetri in the south and with much of the center Newari. There are 380,369 populations with a growth rate of 1.97 and an average family size is 5.4. The district has only 43% adult literacy rate where female literacy rate is considerably lower (33.81%) compared to the male (53.69%). The district has high percentage (over 35%) of poor and marginalized ethnic population.
Christianity in Dhading District:-
In 1968 the Christianity started to enter in the North part of Dhading called Ree, VDC of Kutal. Because of the many persecution and obstacles from the villagers and the government the Christianity was not able to grow. After the democracy in Nepal which is in 1991 the Christianity started to grow with the gospel of Jesus Christ even though there was some persecutions were remained. Especially in the north part of Dhading increased with the gospel of Jesus are those VDC Ree, Jharlang, Lapa and tipling. In those 4 VDCs we can find more than 60%, 55%, 45% and 40% of Christian. But in other VDCs (46 VDCs) has very less Christians and most of them are called unreached villages of Dhading.
Why Does JSN Ministry in Dhading?
The Jesus Saves Network Ministry is in Dhading because most of the 46 Village Development Committees of Dhading are unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ even though some of those VDCs have very few Christian as a seed. The main purpose of JSN ministry is to offer hope through the Salvation in Jesus Christ and disciples the new converts and mentors Christians of those 4 VDCs to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in those unreached VDCs of Dhading. With this goal JSN Ministry is rooted here and had been reached in many places of Dhading VDCs using the tools we have in the Month of April 2013. Those are the Village Development Committees in Dhading District where JSN ministry reached and planning to reach in those unreached VDCs of Dhading, Nepal in future.
The VDCs (Village Development Committee) of Dhading’s Gospel Spreadsheet:
1. Ree V.D.C. (Village Development Committee):- There are more than 60% of Christian and 95% people are from same caste Tamang. Very few villages were counted as an unreached and most of villages of Ree are reached with the gospel. Till the month of April JSN Nepal targeted to those unreached villages of Ree and Gumdi VDC. In Ree VDC our leader Endra found that most of the people they come to church but they don’t know what does it mean to be born again. So that, Endra planned to teach them from the booklet that available in JSN Ministry Center called “Welcome to the Family of God” writtern by James E. Cossey. How wonderful and gracious is our God the almighty who led our JSN leader Endra to help those precious people in Ree to know and receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior forever. Just coming in the church people is not saved but knowing and accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior will save for ever. Amen.
